The Pop Star Portrays a Dark Alter Ego of Herself in Mockumentary First Look

Charli XCX is gearing up for a major cinematic onslaught in 2026, kicking off with the mockumentary titled The Moment.

Throughout the movie, the artist embodies what she describes as a hell version of her own persona.

It’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen, the performer commented.

She clarified in a conversation: It’s not a tour documentary, however the inspiration stemmed from the expectation to make one.

An Early Look into The Project

The first teaser, launched on Thursday, mixes real clips from her recent tour with made-up backstage scenes.

The film is overseen and co-authored by her collaborator, who shared that the narrative focuses on a reality where the artist opted for alternate decisions throughout the marketing of her hugely successful record Brat.

A Hectic Movie Lineup

The film is a single one of numerous forthcoming film appearances for the musician, who already appeared in three independent movies in the current year.

  1. Personal narrative Erupcja
  2. Satirical comedy thriller Sacrifice
  3. Modern fairy tale 100 Nights of Hero

She also appeared as herself in the comedy series Overcompensating.

What’s Next

The coming year will also include the star together with Olivia Wilde in romantic thriller I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in gallery suspense The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.

She also agreed to appear in Dakota Johnson’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

I’m deeply appreciating my foray into acting, Charli shared. I’m incredibly motivated right now in acting, and I always want to do roles that stimulate me.

Soundtrack Involvement

The month of February will also see the debut of the director’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase original songs from the singer.

She will also create the soundtrack for the story Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released next year.

The film is set to premiere on the 30th of January.
